THE YOUTH MOVEMENT
The Holy Family Youth Movement is the youth apostolate branch of the Holy Family Fathers and Brother of the Youth. This movement started as in informal gathering by the Father Founder with the youths after Sunday Masses to discuss and enlighten them. The movement is aimed at bringing youths of different faiths and denominations into one umbrella to foster growth, development, cooperation and Christ like values.
The Youth Movement has grown in leaps and bounds with Fr. Denis-Savio Ugwu, Fr. Paul Esieme and now Fr. Joseph Chibuzor Okakpu as her coordinators respectively. The Youth Movement organizes periodic seminars, outreach programs to the poor and addicted youths, free medical programs, skill acquisition programs. Sporting activities, vocation training etc. the Movement has been spreading the Gospel of love through visitations to hospitals, prisons, less privileged homes, orphanages, etc.
Her members have been equally invited to some parishes to mentor and lecture youths on life, finance, love etc. The imprints of the youth apostolate started in Okija-Nnewi Diocese has extended to Abakiliki Diocese, Onitsha Archdiocese, Bomadi Diocese, Aguleri Diocese, Ekwulobia Diocese, etc.
In February, 2024, in partnership with Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace she organized an interfaith dialogue for peaceful coexistence among different religions in OKija, Anambra State. The event was attended by a good number of Muslims in Okija including the Chief Iman of Okija Central Mosque, the Chief of Hausa people in Okija amongst others.
The youth movement is welcoming to all irrespective of tribe or religious affiliation and societal background as it is centered on offering every youth an opportunity to come closer to Christ and achieve their potentials.
Some of the key challenges faced by the movement includes but not limited to lack of resources (Funds), economic difficulties which increase the mobility of her members.
