Community Life
The Religious life is a participation in the life of the Trinity. We are brought together by love alone to share more fully in the life of the Trinity. Our mission is to bear witness to the love of God for all especially to the needy and the Youth.
A perfect community life is fundamental and un-negotiable. A religious community is a true family gathered together in the Lord’s name and rejoicing in his presence. (Mt. 18:20; Vat. II Religious Life, PC. No. 15)
Rev. Fr. Cletus Ifeanyichukwu Okonkwo, HFFBY
Councilor in Charge of Events and Community Life
We reside in our own religious community houses, and observe common life. We are not to stay elsewhere except with the permission of the Superior. But for a lengthy absence from the religious community house, the Superior General, for a just reason and with the consent of his Council, can authorize a member to live outside a house of the Institute. Such an absence is not to exceed one year, unless for the reasons of health, studies or an apostolate to be exercised in the name of the Institute (cfr. Can.665 No.1).
We build a Happy Community in our Institute through:
- Respecting one another and taking interest in understanding one another.
- Developing an attitude of listening, sympathy and openness with one another. “Let each carry the others’ burdens” (Gal. 6:2).
- Attending community meetings and functions with full participation.
- By honestly and earnestly praying, reflecting, studying, eating, relaxing and recreating together.
- Finally with periodic honest evaluation of our lives.
